Agency Funds

 Alliance Area Development Endowment Fund (Est. 2006)

The Alliance Area Development positively impacts retention of businesses and manufacturing and their expansion and attracts new businesses, area governments and economic development organizations in building successful and complementary relationships resulting in business growth.

 

Alliance Area Domestic Violence Shelter Endowment Fund (Est. 2015)

The Alliance Area Domestic Violence Shelter empowers and assists survivors of verbal, emotional, financial, sexual, and physical abuse by providing education, resources, emergency shelter and transitional support services to those in need.

 

Alliance Community Pantry Endowment Fund (Est. 2015)

The Alliance Community Pantry works within the community to end hunger with an all-volunteer organization which relies totally on the financial generosity of the community.

 

Alliance Family YMCA (Eugene Turner) Endowment Fund (Est. 2015)

The Alliance Family YMCA puts Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy mind, body and spirit for all.

 

Alliance Historical Society Endowment Fund (Est. 2011)

The Alliance Historical Society was founded for the promotion of historical studies of the City of Alliance and its surrounding areas.  Members of the society collect, preserve, and organize historical materials and work with area schools and community organizations to present historical programs.  The society maintains and operates the Mabel Hartzell Historical Home and Alliance history Mini Museum.

Alliance Symphony Orchestra Endowment Fund (Est. 2010)

This fund fosters and promotes music appreciation and education with live performances in the Alliance area.  In the true spirit of a community orchestra, nearly all of our musicians donate their time and talent.

Alliance YWCA Facility Endowment Fund (Est. 2007)

The Alliance YWCA is dedicated to eliminating racism, empower women and promote peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.

 

Beech Creek Botanical Gardens Agency Fund (Est. 2018)

Beech Creek Botanical Gardens believes that quality of life and the health of the environment are interdependent and that an understanding of nature improves the lives of individuals.  BCBG provides educational opportunities and interactive experiences that inspire people to be good stewards of their communities and world.

 

Carnation City Players Endowment Fund (Est. 2012)

Carnation City Players is a volunteer-based, non-profit performing arts organization located in Alliance’s historic Firehouse Theater. CCP continues its mission to foster the enrichment of the performing arts throughout the community and presents a wide variety of quality live theater productions.

 

Castle Crusaders Fund (Est. 2009)

Castle Crusaders maintain the unique historic complex consisting of Glamorgan Castle and twenty acres that is the property of the Alliance City School District.  Thousands annually tour Glamorgan Castle to admire its beauty and splendor.

 

Friends of the Parks Cemetery Fund (Est. 2007)

The Alliance City Cemetery was established in 1826.  This fund was established by probate order for the perpetual care of the Spring-Kinsbury burial plot and the George and Ada Shem burial plots along with any other charitable purpose that the Friends of the Parks deems appropriate.

 

Friends of the Parks General Fund (Est. 2007)

Friends of the Parks develops awareness and appreciation of the Alliance park system consisting of 220 acres and 24 parks for recreational purposes in the community.

Community Impact Funds

Alliance Community Center Fund (Est. 2017)

This fund was established for building and tenant improvements or expenses incurred in the operation, maintenance and repair of the Alliance Community Center. 

 

Alliance Parks & Recreation Fund (2005)

When the Robertson Youth Center was dissolved, all the remaining assets and funds were transferred to GAF for the primary use of park and recreational activities within the city of Alliance.

 

Dr. William D. and Mary Lou Baker Swimming Safety Fund (Est. 2012)

The five Baker children:  Ann, Joan, Jeff, Chip and Tom have honored the memory of their parents, Dr. William D. and Mary Lou Baker, by establishing the charitable fund.  The net income from the fund benefits the Alliance Family YMCA for the purpose of supporting swimming safety, particularly those that teach children to swim.

 

Castle Crusaders Fund (Est. 2017)

This fund was established by the Castle Crusaders for the renovation project of the Glamorgan Castle.

 

Greater Alliance Community Fund (Est. 1999)

This fund was created for meeting the needs of the greater Alliance community.

 

Honor Hometown Heroes Fund (Est. 2019)

The Honoring Hometown Heroes Committee established this fund to recognize local veterans by displaying military tribute banners and provide educational programs on behalf of the community’s United States Veterans.

 

Eileen K. and Robert R. Hunter, Sr. Charitable Fund (Est. 2013)

The fund was established by Attorney Robert R. Hunter, Jr. and his sister, Sue Hunter Commerson to honor their parents in recognition for their support of the mission of the Stuckey Interfaith Child Development Center.  Their father incorporated the center and their mother was a long-time kindergarten teacher. The net income is used to purchase books and educational materials for the center.

Independence Day Fireworks Fund (Est. 2004)

The Alliance Fireworks Council created this fund to receive gifts from individuals and businesses for the purpose of conducting an Independence Day celebration in the city of Alliance and include educational programming.

 

Marlington Education Innovation Fund (Est. 2016)

This fund was established by the Marlington Local School District to promote, encourage and enhance educational opportunities that strengthen and enrich student’s experiences through classroom grants awarded to teachers that facilitate STEM education, 21st Century Learning Skills, Ohio Learning Standards, 1-to-1 Technology Integration, Professional Development for Teachers or Community Engagement.

 

Jack and Madge Peters Early Childhood Education Endowment Fund (Est. 2019)

Jack and Madge Peters established this fund to provide an ongoing and stable source of funding to Early Childhood Education Alliance, Inc.  Distributions from this fund to ECEA are intended to be used to enhance early learning experiences that benefit young children in the greater Alliance community.

 

Drs. Robert and Sally Reed Early Education Fund (Est. 2015)

Drs. Robert and Sally Reed were successful doctors in Alliance, and they believed that quality preschool gave small children a strong start to grow socially and intellectually.  They were particularly concerned with financially disadvantaged families and established this fund to help families enroll in quality early childhood education.

 

Rodman Public Library’s Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library Fund (est. 2019)

Rodman Public Library and Early Childhood Education Alliance established this fund to provide children who live in the greater Alliance, Ohio area and are registered with the Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library with quality, age-appropriate books

 

Ernest A. Sheetz Memorial Fund (Est. 2006)

Upon his retirement from the University of Mount Union, Ernie became the Foundation’s first Executive Director.  He was instrumental in focusing foundation resources toward quality early childhood education and championing a collaboration which became the Early Childhood Education Alliance, Inc.

 

Stuckey Family Educational Fund (Est. 2003)

Arthur Stuckey who was Vice President of GF Business Equipment in Youngstown, Ohio and owner of Livingston’s Office Furniture in Tampa, Florida established this fund for charitable purposes of the greater Alliance area for various educational programs and projects.  Art was born and raised in Alliance and had a strong work ethic and wanted to give back to his hometown. 

 

Stuckey Interfaith Child Development Fund (Est. 2007)

Arthur Stuckey established this fund to provide an ongoing and stable source of funding to the Stuckey Interfaith Child Development Center for early childhood education and development at the center.

 

Summer Explorers Fund (Est. 2016)

The purpose of this fund is to provide summer learning experiences to Alliance City School’s elementary children who are financially challenged to return to school the following year with greater reading, math, and leadership skills.

 

James and Margaret Williams Alliance Family YMCA Youth Fund (Est. 2018)

James and Margaret Williams know the community well because of their service to their church and many civic organizations.  Jim served as a founding trustee to the GAF and served many years on the YMCA board. This fund was established to support youth leadership and healthy lifestyle programs for the Alliance youth at the YMCA.

Scholarship Funds

Athena Scholarship Fund (Est. 2013)

This fund is a non-renewable scholarship for a high school female senior demonstrating community involvement, academic achievement and leadership.

 

Lloyd and June Carlile Education Scholarship Fund (Est. 2005)

Eligible applicants for this renewable scholarship fund are Marlington graduates or graduates of other high schools who are employees or past employees or the children of employees of Custom Poly Bag in Marlboro Township.

 

Carnation City Players Education Scholarship Fund (Est. 2014)

This scholarship fund provides a non-renewable award for high school seniors for post-secondary education who intend to study theater arts and/or plan future involvement with community theater.

 

Sarah Grace Stanley Memorial Scholarship Fund

This fund is a non-renewable scholarship for seniors graduating from public or home-school environments who plan to pursue an agricultural career path and have been an active 4-H member in Stark County.

Nancy Teeple Penny Nursing Scholarship Fund (Est. 2010)

This fund was established in the memory of Nancy Teeple Penny to provide scholarships to first year students at the R. T. White School of Practical Nursing who graduated from Alliance High School.

 

Robert T. White LPN Scholarship Fund (Est. 2018)

This fund created a non-renewable scholarship for a second level full-time or 2nd year part-time student at the R. T. White School of Practical Nursing who has a minimum of a 2.5 grade point average.  Attendance and financial need will be taken into consideration.

 

Jane Moncrief “Spirit of Nursing” Scholarship Fund (Est. 2019)

Kitty Elias, Rebecca Skipper and Martha Stafford, daughters of Jane Moncrief, created this fund to award a non-renewable scholarship for a 2nd level full-time or 2nd level part-time LPN student at the R. T. White School of Nursing that resides in the city of Alliance.  Consideration is given to clinical skills proficiency as recommended to the selection committee by the teaching staff.  Financial need is also a consideration.

DONOR AND CORPORATE ADVISED FUNDS

Juliann Burnell Charitable Fund (Est. 2014)

Even though Juli has been a long-time resident of the Dayton area, she continues the legacy established by her parents, Romane and Betty Burnell, by establishing a donor advised fund in her hometown.

 

Richard and Sue Campbell Charitable Fund (Est. 1999)

Richard and Sue Campbell established this fund for charitable activities with a special emphasis on the Alliance Family YMCA.

 

Alison Draves Performing Arts Fund (Est. 2009)

Drs. Jeff and Patricia Draves established this memorial fund to honor their daughter as a lasting tribute to Alison’s joy and love she experienced within the realm of performing arts.

 

Charles and Carol Grove Charitable Fund (Est. 2004)

Charles and Carol Grove established this Donor Advised Fund in order to give back to the community they love.  Through this fund, they have supported a wide variety of nonprofit organizations in the greater Alliance area. 

 

Grove Appliance Charitable Fund (Est. 2018)

David and Beth Mitchell established this corporate advised fund as a way to give back and to provide grants to Alliance area nonprofits for the betterment of the community.    

 

Harrell Charitable Fund (Est. 2010)

This fund was established by Christina Tolerton Harrell who grew up in Alliance and is the daughter of Terry and Judy Tolerton.  

 

Keller Family Charitable Fund (Est. 2011)

Lynn Keller created this fund to continue the legacy she shared with her late husband, Jay, to provide charitable grants to a variety of organizations addressing community needs.

 

Kintz Family Donor Advised Fund (Est. 2019)

James Kintz created this fund for his family to assist and support charities within the Alliance community.

 

Steve and Kathy Kramer Charitable Fund (Est. 2007)

Established by long-time educators in the city of Alliance, Steve and Kathy Kramer will use this fund for for future charitable purposes.

 

Joseph and Charlotte Mastroianni Family Charitable Fund (Est. 2016)

This fund was created by planned giving and named in honor of Joseph and Charlotte Mastroianni to recommend donations that respond to community needs.

 

Beatrice L. Miller Charitable Fund (est. 2015)

This fund was established by the B. L. Miller Foundation to continue her philanthropic legacy in supporting nonprofit agencies in Sebring and Alliance.

 

John and Madge Peters Charitable Fund (Est. 2004)

John “Jack” and Madge Peters expressed their continuing commitment to their local community foundation by establishing this fund.

 

Mel and Bonnie Rittner Charitable Fund (Est. 2017)

Mel and Bonnie Rittner have established this fund as a way to give back to their community and their church, Abiding Savior Lutheran Church.  They provide support to a variety of nonprofit organizations.

 

Robertson Family Charitable Fund (Est. 2005)

Virginina Robertson, wife of Alliance businessman John Robertson who founded Robertson Heating Supply in 1934, established this fund to support projects that benefit children and families through educational and recreational initiatives in the community.

 

Joan and Richard Spittler Family Charitable Fund (Est. 2016)

Established by the children of Joan and Dick Spittler: John, Robert, Ann, Phillip, Mary Lynn and Christine, to support community needs in memory of their parents.

 

Sarah Grace Stanley Memorial Fund (Est. 2016)

Bill and Denise Stanley created this memorial fund to celebrate their daughter Sarah Grace and her passion for friends, family and animals. She challenged people to do something creative every day.

 

Steve Teeple Charitable Fund (Est. 2009)

Norma Teeple, wife of Attorney John Teeple, established this charitable fund to foster philanthropic giving to her son who is the advisor of this fund.

 

Thomas Teeple Charitable Fund (Est. 2009)

Norma Teeple, wife of Attorney John Teeple, established this charitable fund to foster philanthropic giving to her son who is the advisor of this fund.

 

Tolerton Charitable Fund (Est. 2010)

Terry and Judy Tolerton and their son Will and his wife Marci established this donor advised fund as a means to give back to the community where they raised their family and have been successful in their family owned business.

 

Ruth Walter Charitable Fund (Est. 2000)

In memory of her late husband Wayne, Ruth was one of the first donors to the Foundation and created this fund to support the Alliance Family YMCA and to respond to community needs.
